NordVPN Launches Dedicated Server

We checked what the new add-on actually includes, how it differs from Dedicated IP, and why it is not yet appearing consistently at checkout

NordVPN announced its new Dedicated Server add-on on 15 June 2026. The product gives one customer a private virtual VPN server with a static IP address, reserved resources and port forwarding — a combination NordVPN has not previously offered through its consumer apps.

The port-forwarding support is the important part. NordVPN’s normal shared servers and its existing Dedicated IP service do not accept inbound connections. Dedicated Server is designed for people who need to reach a NAS, home lab, private game server, remote workstation or another self-hosted service from outside their local network.

There is a launch-day wrinkle, though. NordVPN says customers can add the product during checkout or through Nord Account, but we could not find Dedicated Server in either the US or UK purchase routes we checked on 16 June. The product pages are live and the support documentation is published, yet the checkout flow does not appear to have caught up everywhere.

For our wider assessment of the provider, read the full NordVPN review. We also track major product changes in our guide to NordVPN’s history.

NordVPN Dedicated Server Availability: Announced, but Not Yet Easy to Buy

NordVPN’s launch article says new customers can purchase a VPN plan and add Dedicated Server, while existing customers can buy it through Nord Account. Its published server locations are Boston in the US, Manchester in the UK, Frankfurt in Germany and Paris in France.

That is the official position. The live checkout told a different story when we tested it.

What appeared in the US checkout

The optional-services section showed Dedicated IP for $3.69 per month and Incogni Standard for $4.49 per month. Dedicated Server was not listed.

What appeared in the UK checkout

The optional-services section showed Incogni Standard, but no separate Dedicated Server or Dedicated IP add-on. Dedicated IP was shown as an included benefit of the Ultimate Max plan, which is a different product.

Our reading: this looks more like an unfinished or staged checkout rollout than evidence that NordVPN has withdrawn the product from the US or UK. That is an inference, not a confirmed explanation from NordVPN. The company’s product page, launch article and support guides are already live, but the sales route is not yet consistently displaying the new add-on.

I checked the purchase flow because “available” should mean more than a published landing page. At the time of writing, clicking the Dedicated Server call-to-action led back into NordVPN’s normal plan journey without presenting a clearly labelled Dedicated Server option. Existing customers may see a different account-level offer, so the most reliable check is inside Nord Account.

Buying advice: do not subscribe to NordVPN solely for Dedicated Server until the add-on appears in your own checkout or Nord Account. If it is missing, ask support whether it has been enabled for your country and account.

NordVPN Dedicated Server Specifications

NordVPN manages the VPN server itself. You do not receive a general-purpose VPS with administrator access, and it is not a web-hosting or cloud-storage package. You still need your own computer, NAS or server to run the application or store the files you want to reach.

FeaturePublished specificationWhat it means in practice
IP addressOne static IP assigned to the customerA stable endpoint for remote access, IP allowlists and hosted services.
Reserved resources1 vCPU and 4 GB RAMThe virtual-server resources are not shared with ordinary NordVPN users.
Connection speedUp to 1 GbpsThis is a maximum. Actual throughput still depends on distance, routing and the internet connections at both ends.
Data allowance4 TB per billing monthAfter 4 TB, NordVPN reduces the server connection to 10 Mbps until the next billing cycle.
Port forwardingUp to 20 TCP or UDP rulesIncoming traffic can be routed from the dedicated public IP to a registered device and port.
Simultaneous connectionsUp to 10Ten devices can connect to the Dedicated Server at the same time.
VPN protocolNordLynx onlyOpenVPN and IKEv2 are not supported for this product.
AppsMajor NordVPN appsBrowser extensions are excluded. tvOS is excluded in the launch article, and the Mac App Store build currently cannot configure port forwarding.

NordVPN says deployment normally takes a few minutes after purchase. The server location can be changed once per subscription by contacting support, so it is worth choosing the closest practical location rather than treating it like a normal server you can swap at any time.

There is also a documentation inconsistency to be aware of. One part of NordVPN’s product page lists Phoenix or Boston, London, Berlin and Paris, while its launch article and technical-specification section list Boston, Manchester, Frankfurt and Paris. The locations actually offered in Nord Account should be treated as authoritative until NordVPN aligns those pages.

How Much Does NordVPN Dedicated Server Cost?

TechRadar reported a launch price of $11.99 per month, charged in addition to an active NordVPN subscription. That is the clearest published price we found, but NordVPN’s own public Dedicated Server page did not display a regional price during our checks.

We therefore would not present a dollar conversion as a confirmed price for the UK, Europe or any other market. Taxes, currency conversion and NordVPN’s regional pricing can change the final amount. More importantly, the product has to appear in checkout before a local total can be verified.

Confirmed: $11.99 per month was reported at launch and a base NordVPN subscription is required.

Not yet confirmed: fixed prices in pounds, euros or other currencies, and whether the add-on is currently enabled for every new or existing account.

Do not confuse this with the $3.69-per-month Dedicated IP offer that appeared in the US checkout we checked. Dedicated IP is cheaper because it supplies a personal address on shared VPN infrastructure. It does not include reserved computing resources or port forwarding.

NordVPN Dedicated Server vs Dedicated IP

The similar names make these products easy to mix up. They both provide a static IP address used only by one customer, but that is where the overlap ends.

CapabilityNordVPN Dedicated IPNordVPN Dedicated Server

Port forwardingNoYes, up to 20 rules

The cleanest rule is this: choose Dedicated IP when you only need a stable personal address. Choose Dedicated Server when outside users or devices must initiate a connection to something you host. Our upcoming guide to dedicated VPN servers vs dedicated IP addresses will examine the privacy, pricing and networking differences in more depth.

Important: Dedicated IP being bundled with a premium NordVPN plan does not mean Dedicated Server is included. They are separate services with different capabilities and purchase routes.

Who Is NordVPN Dedicated Server For?

This is a specialist networking add-on, not an automatic upgrade for every NordVPN customer. It earns its monthly cost only when it solves a specific inbound-access or resource-sharing problem.

Home labs and self-hosted services

A stable public endpoint can help you reach dashboards, development tools, a NAS or another service running at home without publishing the residential IP address.

Private game servers

Friends can connect to the dedicated VPN address instead of the server owner’s home IP. Port forwarding makes the service reachable, while the VPN endpoint takes the public exposure.

Remote access for other people

Port forwarding is useful when colleagues, friends or family need to initiate a connection. When access is limited to your own trusted devices, NordVPN’s free Meshnet feature may be simpler.

Stable IP allowlisting

A fixed address can be added to a private dashboard, corporate tool or firewall allowlist. Dedicated IP may be the better-value option when inbound ports are not required.

Best fit: technically confident users who can identify the exact device, application and port they need to reach. Shared VPN servers remain the better choice for ordinary browsing, streaming and public Wi-Fi protection.

NordVPN Dedicated Server Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Brings port forwarding to NordVPN without requiring customers to build and maintain their own VPN gateway.
  • Combines a static IP with reserved CPU, RAM and connection capacity.
  • Supports up to 20 TCP or UDP forwarding rules.
  • Can keep a home or office IP address out of the public connection path for hosted services.
  • Works through familiar NordVPN apps and supports up to ten simultaneous connections.
  • Could be easier to operate than renting, hardening and monitoring a general-purpose VPS.

Cons

  • Was not displayed in the US or UK checkout routes we tested after launch.
  • The reported $11.99 monthly fee is additional to the cost of a NordVPN subscription.
  • NordVPN explicitly excludes Dedicated Server from its standard no-logs policy.
  • A unique address offers less crowd anonymity than a shared VPN IP.
  • The 4 TB allowance is followed by throttling to 10 Mbps.
  • NordLynx is the only supported protocol.
  • NordVPN’s launch documentation currently contains conflicting location lists.
  • Opening inbound ports adds security responsibility for the customer.

The Privacy and Security Trade-Off

A shared VPN address blends your connection with traffic from many other customers. Dedicated Server deliberately removes that crowd: one server and one static address are associated with one account. That is useful for reliability, but it is not the strongest setup for anonymity.

NordVPN states plainly that its standard no-logs policy does not apply to Dedicated Server. That disclosure should be near the centre of any buying decision, not buried beneath the speed figures. Anyone considering the add-on should read the dedicated-server terms and privacy information before ordering.

Port forwarding also creates a reachable path from the public internet to a selected device. NordVPN manages the VPN infrastructure, but it cannot secure an outdated NAS, a weak password or a poorly configured game server for you.

Minimum precautions: expose only the ports you need, use unique credentials and multi-factor authentication where supported, keep the target service patched, restrict access by IP when practical, and monitor failed login attempts.

Our Verdict: A Useful Product With an Unfinished Launch

NordVPN Dedicated Server fills a genuine gap in the company’s consumer range. It gives self-hosters, gamers and remote-access users a managed way to combine a static IP, private VPN resources and port forwarding. That is meaningfully different from the existing Dedicated IP add-on.

The product information, however, is ahead of the buying experience. We found live product and support pages but no Dedicated Server option in the US or UK checkout flows we tested. In the US, Dedicated IP and Incogni appeared as add-ons. In the UK, Incogni appeared as the optional add-on, while Dedicated IP was presented as part of Ultimate Max. None of those listings was the new Dedicated Server.

My view is that NordVPN has launched the service technically but has not yet surfaced it consistently commercially. That may change quickly. Until it does, treat $11.99 as a reported launch price rather than a universally available checkout offer, and confirm availability inside your own account before paying for a base plan.

Once the checkout is working, the decision is straightforward. Buy Dedicated Server for a defined need involving inbound connections. Choose Dedicated IP for a stable address without port forwarding. Stick with ordinary shared servers when privacy and everyday VPN use are the priority.

NordVPN Dedicated Server FAQs
